Choose better photos for your AI dance video
By Mami Dance · Updated October 31, 2026
A good reference gives the model useful information about your face, hair, clothes and proportions. It cannot guarantee an exact likeness, but it avoids asking the model to invent everything below a tiny face crop.
One person in each photo
For Solo, upload one photo of one adult. For Duo, upload two separate photos with one adult in each. A group photo leaves the model to guess which person matters. Crop out bystanders before uploading, while keeping enough of the intended person’s body visible.
In Duo, Your photo starts on the left and Your friend starts on the right. Swap sides changes the assignment. The dancers may change places during the routine; the starting labels do not promise that a person stays on one side throughout.
Show the face and the outfit
Choose a sharp, front-facing or slightly turned portrait. Avoid sunglasses, masks, hair covering the eyes and strong beauty filters. A head-to-knees or full-body photo gives more clothing information than a close-up selfie. Keep the face large enough to see clearly; a tiny figure at the far end of a room is a weak reference even if the file has many pixels.
The tool asks the model to use the clothes shown in each photo. If a garment or shoe is outside the crop, the model must invent it. Busy patterns, logos, jewelry and fingers can change between frames, so review those details in the result.
Use clear, even lighting
A face lit from the front or side is easier to read than a dark silhouette against a window. Avoid heavy motion blur, colored club lighting and screenshots of screenshots. For a duo, similarly clear portraits give both people a fair starting point; one sharp photo cannot compensate for a very blurry second one.
You do not need to perform the dance in the portrait. The reference video supplies motion. Choose an image that shows the person well, then use the dance guide to understand the movement the tool will follow.
Choose a background deliberately
Original dance scene uses the reference clip’s setting, lighting and camera angle, ignoring your photo backgrounds. First photo’s scene uses the setting and lighting from the “Your photo” upload in Duo; your friend’s background is ignored. Swapping sides also changes which photo supplies the background. In Solo, Your photo’s scene uses your single upload. If you choose the photo setting, use a scene with enough visible space for a full-body dance. A close-up against a plain wall may give little information about a floor or room layout.
These are instructions to a generative model. It may change details or reconstruct the space; background selection is not a precise cutout-and-paste operation.
File requirements
- JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 8 MB per photo.
- Both sides must be between 301 and 5,999 pixels.
- Width-to-height ratio between 0.4 and 2.5; avoid very narrow or panoramic crops.
- Only adults aged 18 or older who agree to appear in the generated video.
If upload fails, check format and size first, then crop an extreme aspect ratio or export a fresh copy. Renaming a file extension does not convert the image.
Save your result
Uploaded photos expire after 7 days, with temporary retention for unresolved payments or active generations. Download your finished video within 30 days; after that, its link expires and the file is scheduled for deletion. Order records remain available.
480p or 720p?
480p is a smaller output suitable for an initial test. 720p provides more output pixels and can be useful for sharing. Neither setting can reliably recover identity detail missing from the original photo. Check the price for your length and resolution before choosing. Both produce a silent vertical video.
Before paying, check that both photo slots contain the intended people, review the side assignment and choose the correct duration. Replacing a photo clears the permission checkbox so you can confirm the new selection.
